Daikon Route
Video Projection with Sound, RT 8:53
2025
a video of Riku Nakano's harvest parade, "Daikon Root", which took place in Williamstown on May 4th, 2025.
Riku organized the collaborative performance, which incorporated music, the sharing of homemade radish pickles, and the procession of a large, wearable daikon sculpture. Riku grew this large vegetable over several months out of discarded fabrics, wood caning, and ground cochineal dye.
Fior collaborated with Riku to document the parade, organizing, directing, and editing the video "Daikon Route". Meant to be projected onto a wall, "Daikon Route" meshes the lush sensory experience of daikon with the long, slow nature of the procession.
Thank you to videographers S.N. Wolfe, and David Cañez, and to boom operator Percival Tonha, as well as everyone who held an umbrella over equipment!
